Official Press Release 2011 Marketing Awards

2011 Marketing Canada Awards

The Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) is Canada's national organization of economic development professionals, representing all provinces, and territories across Canada with 900+ members.  The Association's mission is to enhance the professional competence of economic development professionals and ensure placement of qualified people in the field of economic development, to advance economic development as a distinct, recognized and self governing profession and to contribute to Canada's well being.

The Association recognizes that marketing a community is an integral part of the economic development profession, therefore provides The Marketing Canada Awards competition as an opportunity to exchange and review promotional literature, media, and other materials produced by municipalities across the country.  This awards program is open to those organizations that undertake to promote and market Canadian provinces, territories, regions, cities, towns and areas with a view to improving the economic well being of Canadians.

Quesnel Community and Economic Development Corporation (QCEDC), during the Economic Developers Association of Canada's 43rd National Conference, was recognized by the awarding of a 1st prize for its blog, http://quesnelinfo.blogspot.com, Digital Media-Interactive Media submission - in the 2011 Marketing Canada Awards.  This year's Awards program attracted one hundred and six submissions from across Canada.

QCEDC wishes to acknowledge the work of staff on this project including April Cheng, Economic Development Officer, Charlene Lawrence, Project Manager, and Erin Dzielak, Grant Writer and Marketing Assistant.  The support of the board and municipal council (City of Quesnel) and regional district (Cariboo Regional District) have made these kinds of marketing campaigns successful and QCEDC looks forward to future successful campaigns that showcase Quesnel and the opportunities that are available in the community and regional area.
